We are a growing patient-centered practice who is looking for a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Coeur d' Alene.

The NP or PA provides diagnosis, treatment, and management in a behavioral health clinical setting to a specified population. Provides consultation for in-house patients for Heritage Health providers and, if needed, assumes responsibility for psychiatric care. Counsels and educates patients regarding treatment and refers to ancillary and support services.

Minimum eligibility and qualifications:
Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the State of Idaho or qualified to receive certification as a FNP or (PMHNP) in the State of Idaho or, a medical license from the State of Idaho to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant under a Physician’s supervision plus a medical certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Inc. (NCCPA) is required. The medical license must be free of restriction and no litigation or disciplinary actions may be pending against the incumbent. The incumbent must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, DEA and State of Idaho Controlled Substance Registration numbers. Bachelors degree required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Pro­vid­e psychiatric care through di­ag­no­sis, clin­i­cal judg­ment, and man­age­ment to re­store, main­tain, and improve mental health stat­us in ac­cor­dance with prac­tice pol­i­cies and scope of prac­tice, in­clud­ing:
    1. as­sess­ment of phys­i­cal, emo­tion­al, and de­vel­op­men­tal stat­us of the in­di­vid­u­al and fam­i­ly;
    2. a­nal­y­sis of health be­hav­i­or re­lat­ed to per­son­al­i­ty, life style, and cul­ture;
    3. pre­scrip­tive treat­ment of health pro­blems as de­fined by nurse prac­titioner act;
    4. coun­sel­ing and client ad­vo­ca­cy;
    5. pro­vides health education to cli­ents, clin­ic staff, and com­mu­ni­ty or­gan­i­za­tions;
    6. per­forms as­sess­ment of the en­vi­ron­men­tal stat­us of the com­mu­ni­ty and its im­pact on health.
  2. Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  3. Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff.
  4. Works in col­lab­o­ra­tion and/or co­or­di­na­tion with oth­er health-care pro­vid­ers with­in the clin­ic team and com­mu­ni­ty agen­cies to pro­vide com­pre­hen­sive client care.
  5. In co­or­di­na­tion with oth­er clin­ic staff, main­tains sys­tem of qual­i­ty as­sess­ment and as­su­rance in ac­cor­dance with qual­i­ty as­su­rance plan.
  6. Par­tic­i­pates in pro­gram plan­ning, development, im­ple­men­ta­tion and eval­u­a­tion re­lat­ing to spe­cif­ic job, clin­ic, and pro­gram func­tions.
  7. Par­tic­i­pates in a con­tin­u­ing ed­u­ca­tion pro­gram de­signed by the nurse practitioner and ap­proved by the Medi­cal Di­rec­tor.
  8. Par­tic­i­pates in staff meet­ings, con­fer­enc­es, and in-ser­vice training­ and con­tin­u­ing ed­u­ca­tion.
  9. Par­tic­i­pates in re­cruit­ment, in­ter­view­ing and per­for­mance eval­u­a­tions of clin­i­cal per­son­nel.
  10. Performs administrative duties, including: community outreach and education, staffing, attending behavioral health meetings, acting as intermediary between other agencies, and goal setting/monitoring of progress.
  11. Participates in peer review.
  12. Main­tains stan­dards of care as de­scribed in Prin­ci­ples of Prac­tice, pro­to­cols, and Scope of Prac­tice as approved by the State of Idaho Board of Nurs­ing and the American Medical Association.
  13. May participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures.
  14. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  15. Participates in QA/QI activities.
  16. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  17. Per­forms oth­er re­lat­ed func­tions as re­quired for clin­ic op­er­a­tions.
  18. Attends meetings.
  19. Meets with behavioral health lead to monitor functioning of department.
  20. Negotiates and collaborates with PSR agencies.
  21. Monthly staffing with PSR agencies.
  22. Heritage Health outreach.
  23. Monthly staffing with counselors; bimonthly meetings with KBH and Region One Mental Health.
  24. Participates in evaluations of behavioral health staff.
