We are a growing patient-centered practice that is looking for a FULL TIME, Dental Assistant Supervisor with our Dental team in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

 

The Heritage Health Dental Assistant Supervisor oversees the day to day clinical operations. The Supervisor is responsible for orientation and competency training for Dental Assistants. In addition, the Dental Assistant Supervisor provides high quality dental care in accordance with national guidelines to all Heritage Health’s patients in a culturally competent manner.  The Dental Assistant Supervisor increases the efficiency of the dentist during a variety of dental treatment procedures. Dental assistants possess strong communication skills and perform tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. The Heritage Health Dental Assistant’s primary duties include (but are not limited to) chair side assisting, sterilization, seating patients, taking radiographs and other basic dental assistant duties. Provides quality customer service to all Heritage Health patients in the check in and check out process. Works closely with dental assistants and dentists to ensure patient visits processed in timely manner.


In this role, you will be:
  • Assist the dentist or dental hygienist in the administration of treatment through fourhanded practices at chair side.
  • Maintains responsibility and obligation primarily to the dentist.
  • Provide for adequate and thorough orientation for all new dental assistant employees at the Dental Clinic.
  • Provide Dental Assistants with proper instructions prior to use of all new equipment at Dental Clinic.
  • Communicate continuously with dental staff for clinic changes.
  • Providing coaching to Dental Assistants on an as needed basis under the direction of the VP of Operations and Administration.
  • Schedule Dental Assistants to ensure coverage whenever the clinic is in operation.
  • Train all dental assistants in the use of Dentrix.
  • Assists dentists and dental assistants with emergency care of patients in the clinic.
  • Handles acute treatment crisis intervention.
  • Assures all instruments, charts, and radiographs are available in the operatory prior to start of dental treatment. Applies knowledge of proper armamentarium of all procedures.
  • Passes proper instruments, at correct times, for a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Takes blood pressure and vital signs. Reviews health history with patients.
  • Answers telephone, schedules appointments, orders supplies, and checks patients in and out.
  • Provides post-operative oral care instructions to patients following surgery or other dental procedures.
  • Provides oral hygiene instructions to maximize optimal oral health and encourages patients to achieve excellent home care.
  • Assures proper asepsis techniques are followed.
  • Develops infection control protocol, properly sterilizes instruments and equipment following
  • OSHA guidelines.
  • Completes all weekly and monthly maintenance on equipment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all expanded functions to which he/she is certified including:
    1. rubber dam placement and removal;
    2. retraction cord placement and removal;
    3.  placing temporary restorations;
    4.  placing and removing matrix band and wedge;
    5.  placing liners and bases in cavity preparation;
    6.  pit and fissure sealants;
    7.  coronal polish and fluoride application;
    8.  suture removal;
    9.  fabrication of provisionals;
    10.  administration of nitrous oxide.

Qualifications:
  • The Dental Assistant Supervisor must obtain certification in an accredited dental assisting program and have expanded dental functions certification and have a desire to work in public health care.
  • Experience with Dentrix and Dexus preferred. 
  • Two years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • CPR certification or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
