We are a growing patient-centered practice who is looking for a full-time Associate Dental Director at our Dental Clinic in Coeur d'Alene, ID.


Heritage Health’s Associate Dental Director will be one in a dyad to lead our dental clinic. You will provide high quality dental care in accordance with national guidelines to all Heritage Health patients in a culturally competent manner. Our Associate Dental Director will also provide dental care consistent with Heritage Health’s mission statement. We seek a dentist who is a strong leader who treats all staff with respect and supports teamwork and a positive work environment.

As a dentist, you will examine and treat members of family, regardless of age or sex; ensure proper dental care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery; diagnose and treat injuries and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures; examine patients to assess condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures; cleans, fills, extracts, and replaces teeth; provide preventative dental services to patients and education in oral and dental hygiene; request necessary tests and follow-up visits and refer patients to specialists, as necessary.


Qualifications:
Completion of ADA accredited dental program: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
Active Idaho dental license
BLS certification
Certification through Drug Enforcement Agency and valid Idaho licenses
Ability to secure credentialing through identified agencies
Effective oral and written communication skills
Previous experience working with under-served population desired


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule dental care visits per agreed upon FTE status.
  2. See 15-20 patients per clinical day.
  3. Ability to see pediatric patients on a regular basis. 
  4. Perform clinical services such as restorative, surgical, various preventative and restorative services as directed by the Chief Medical Director or Dental Director.
  5. Understand and follow infection control procedures.
  6. Review medical histories at each visit; consult with primary health care provider as indicated.
  7. Diagnose dental disease, oral pathology, and develop a written treatment plan, prioritizing treatments.
  8. Chart all pathologic conditions and report findings to the patient (caregiver or guardian).
  9. Explain course of treatment to the patient; solicit his/her input and agreement.
  10. Balance treatment plan on patient’s needs and desires, and in conjunction with patient and clinic resources.
  11. Ensure all prescriptions and advice regarding medications is in accordance with accepted community standards and Heritage Health protocols.
  12. Recommend dental equipment changes and additions.
  13. Participate in the development and implementation of provider productivity standards.
  14. Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  15. Represent Heritage Health at conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs.
  16. Participate in precepting dental assisting students, dental hygiene students, and dental students as required.
  17. Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians and patients.
  18. Ensures confidentiality of patient information.
  19. Has regular and predictable attendance.
  20. Attends all monthly staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
  21. Participates in QA/QI activities.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned or indicated.
  23. Attends all staff meetings.
  24. Participates on QA or other committees to promote better practice within the health centers.
  25. Role models strong leadership skills and promotes teamwork.
  26. Follows all clinical protocols and procedures as outlined in the Provider Handbook.
  27. Actively supports decision making of the Senior Management team. Performs other duties as requested.
