The mission of Heritage Health is to deliver a healthcare experience that provides hope, inspires change and extends life for our patients and our community. We are a growing patient-centered practice who is looking for a part time Certified Family Support Partner in Coeur d' Alene.


The Family Support Partner is /was a parent, guardian, or primary caregiver of a child or youth with a diagnosed mental health disorder. Family support partners use their own lived experience come along side other families who are navigating the challenging journey of raising children struggling with mental illness. This collaborative partnership is designed to help families build on their strengths, to achieve recovery together. Drawing on their own lived experience and training, family support partners, empower all members of the family, work to instill hope that recovery is possible, and model how to navigate a variety of systems. This mentoring relationship works by collaborating with natural and professionals supports, to give families the ability to identify and reach the recovery goals that are most important to them.


Minimum eligibility and qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of certification as a Family Support Partner through the State of Idaho and high school diploma or GED and lived experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide consistency and support to promote family and youth progress and accountability.
  2. Teach skills necessary in parenting children/youth with mental health disorders by selectively using self-disclosure in sharing strategies, coping skills, and parenting tools.
  3. Empower families to self-advocate in systems and use problem solving skills to find their own solutions.
  4. Model collaborative relationship building and teamwork skills.
  5. Teach families how to navigate a variety of community based services and organizations.
  6. Teach families how to document all activities that pertain to the child’s appointments, meetings, needs, goals, and strengths.
  7. Assist families in identifying strengths and self-assessing readiness to actively pursue recovery goals.
  8. Use a variety of different methods to help the child/youth and family to engage in the identifying and achieving their recovery goals.
  9. Maintenance of electronic client files, including completion of progress notes and progress reports in a timely manner.
  10. Fully participate in mandatory clinical supervision meetings on a weekly basis.
  11. Compliance with confidentiality policy as it applies to protection of clients’ rights
  12. Collaborate with all members of the treatment team in regards to the client’s strengths and recovery goals.
  13. Follow all mandated reporting requirements for children and vulnerable adults.
  14. Strict adherence to Idaho Family Support Partner Code of Ethics.
  15. Maintain a nonjudgmental approach in working with all members of the family.
  16. Use empathy, effective listening, and encouragement in working with families.
  17. Engage in continuing education and learning opportunities for professional development.
  18. Understanding and adherence to all Heritage Health Policies and Procedures.
  19. Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
